AS Monaco FC (Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club) was founded in 1924 and began its professional ascension after World War II. Although a club of the Monaco soccer, AS Monaco plays in the French Soccer League being one of the most successful and popular club teams of France.
This year in June, the Monegasque businessman Michel Pastor has become the new president of the club.
The outfit of the Monaco soccer team: red and white T-shirt, red shorts. The design of the T-shirt — a diagonal that splits red of white, was created by Princesse Grace at the beginning of the 60s. Before this design, AS Monaco had red and white striped T-shirts.

AS Monaco's coach is Didier Deschamps. He was a captain for the team of France when in 2000 they won the European title. He has done a great job taking Monaco to the Champion's League final.

Stade Louis II
Stade Louis II is AS Monaco's home ground. It has a capacity of 18,500 people and was built in Fontvieille — the land claimed over the sea.
Monaco has one of the highest inhabitants/spectators rate in France (around 10,400 spectators in 2003/2004 out of 30,000 inhabitants).
