Monaco History

AS Monaco FC (Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club) was founded in 1924 and began its professional ascension after World War II. Although a club of the Monaco soccer, AS Monaco plays in the French Soccer League being one of the most successful and popular club teams of France.

The well known Monegasque businessman Michel Pastor was the president of the club.

The outfit of the Monaco soccer team: red and white T-shirt, red shorts. The design of the T-shirt — a diagonal that splits red of white, was created by Princesse Grace at the beginning of the 60s. Before this design, AS Monaco had red and white striped T-shirts.

One of AS Monaco’s past coaches was Didier Deschamps. He was a captain for the team of France when in 2000 they won the European title. He has done a great job taking Monaco to the Champion’s League final.
